Eats Berlin
October 27, 2009
Ok, this isn't directly about music, but I have to sing the praises of the Berlin Shawarma. In Berlin, the Turkish Döner Kebab is far more popular and don't get me wrong, I love a good ole Döner but, the Shawarma is a step up in my book.
Shawarma is based on chunks of chicken or turkey meat marinated in a spicy yoghurt sauce. Some fresh lettuce, onions, cucumber, tomato and the can't-do-without scharf (spicy) sauce all resting in a lovely warm pita bread and you have one heck of a hearty meal indeed.
I am also known amongst friends for my frugality and the fact that you can get a delicious Shawarma for 2 euros and 50 cent makes it taste all the more amazing.
My favourite Shawarma in Berlin is Luxa located at the corner of Torstraße and Schönhauser Allee.
So with mouth watering, I wish you all happy eating!
